Robby has only ever been a photographer. He started his professional career in the late 1980s, working for QA Photos photographing the construction of the Channel Tunnel. ‘It was a great opportunity to really put into practice all I’d learned at college. A dark tunnel is a pretty challenging environment especially in the pre-digital age. Also, you’d have to switch to cover press events to photograph the Queen and President Mitterrand at the drop of a hat, not easy. But I was young and enthusiastic, having my images published all around the world was a real buzz. The project was a great way to fine tune my photography, especially in such a specialised area as tunnels. Not all professional photographers know how to photograph tunnels. I have that expertise.’ In recent years he has joined focus with his wife, also a photographer who runs Rusty&Sailor Photography, a much different world from construction photography! they are constantly stretching each others photographic abilities, which means their work stays fresh and they don't become complacent. Our philosophy is wholly client based. We provide an exceptional photographic service - great shots with a professional and friendly approach. We have a real passion for photography and mediums available, originally film based but now practically all our work is shot digitally. We keep abreast of new technologies and therefore use the best cameras and lens newly available while keeping a keen eye on the best classic equipment available.
